Founder story

Founded in 2012 in San Francisco by Howie Liu, Andrew Ofstad, and Emmett Nicholas, Airtable was created to democratize software creation. The founders recognized that traditional databases were too complex for non-engineers, while spreadsheets lacked relational power. They spent two years perfecting a flexible, low-code relational engine that empowered anyone to build enterprise-grade application workflows.
