Founder story

Artlist was founded in 2016 in Kibbutz Afikim, Israel, by Ira Belsky, Itzik Elbaz, Eyal Raz, and Asaf Ayalon. Drawing on their backgrounds in filmmaking and music, the founders built the company to solve the financial and technical frictions of content creation. The company grew rapidly as a bootstrapped business during the YouTube vlogger boom before raising $48 million from KKR in 2020 and later achieving $300M+ ARR by 2026.

Comparison overview

• Artlist is positioned as a premium, curation-first creative platform, differentiating itself from volume-driven competitors like Envato or Shutterstock through its strong brand culture and seamless pro-workflow integrations. While Motion Array (now owned by Artlist) offers similar video-centric assets, Artlist provides a more unified 'creative partner' experience for enterprise and professional users.
