AI notepad capturing meetings without intrusive bots.
Uses local computer audio to transcribe meetings without requiring an intrusive bot participant. Automatically generates structured notes, action items, and project documentation post-meeting using AI. Syncs with calendars to prepare pre-meeting briefs with context from past conversations. Enables cross-meeting querying to surface insights and decisions from the entire organization's history.
Bot-free architecture eliminates the privacy concerns and social friction associated with automated meeting recorders. Local audio processing provides superior privacy, ensuring data is not used for training shared AI models. Granola is an AI-powered notepad designed for professional meetings. Unlike traditional note-taking bots that join calls, Granola runs locally on your computer to capture audio and generate structured notes, PRDs, and action items. It syncs with calendars to provide meeting context and allows users to query their entire meeting history, making it a searchable source of truth for teams.
Founded in 2023 in London by Chris Pedregal and Sam Stephenson, Granola was built to solve the fragmented post-meeting experience. Pedregal, formerly of Socratic (acquired by Google), teamed up with Stephenson to create an AI-native notepad. They identified that existing solutions were invasive, leading them to prioritize a non-intrusive, privacy-focused architecture for documenting high-stakes professional conversations.
