Grass

Overview

Grass is a decentralized network that allows individuals to monetize their unused internet bandwidth. By running a lightweight node or extension, users contribute to data gathering and transformation processes used for AI model training. Built on the Solana blockchain, the platform ensures data integrity via zero-knowledge proofs. It aims to democratize access to web data while prioritizing user privacy.

What it does

• Allows users to share idle internet bandwidth automatically via browser extensions or applications.
• Transforms unstructured web data into structured datasets for institutional AI research.
• Leverages Layer 2 Solana infrastructure to ensure high scalability and transactional speed.
• Employs zero-knowledge proofs to guarantee data integrity and protect user privacy.

Who it's for

• Crypto Enthusiasts
• Passive Income Seekers
• AI Researchers
• Data Scientists

Why it works

• Utilizes a decentralized network model to source public web data without relying on traditional scraping infrastructure.
• Incentivizes global user participation through tokenized rewards and uptime points.
• Maintains strict privacy standards by isolating unused bandwidth and preventing access to private personal data.
• Leverages Solana's high-speed Layer 2 architecture to execute data rollups efficiently at scale.

Founder story

Grass was founded by Andrej Radonjic, launching publicly in late 2024. Headquartered globally with a focus on web decentralization, the project was created to solve the growing data bottleneck in artificial intelligence training by tapping into idle residential network bandwidth.

Alternatives

• Network aggregators
• Decentralized storage networks
• Traditional web scrapers
• Proxy networks

Comparison overview

• Grass operates a crowdsourced bandwidth network for AI training, differing from traditional data centers by relying on residential nodes.
• It utilizes token incentives and zero-knowledge proofs, contrasting with centralized web scraping providers that operate via private server clusters.
