Linearity Curve

Overview

Linearity Curve (formerly Vectornator) is an advanced vector graphic design and illustration software explicitly optimized for Apple's desktop and mobile ecosystems. Operating natively on macOS, iPadOS, and iOS, the platform empowers digital artists, brand designers, and marketing teams to craft intricate scalable vector art, logos, and layouts. By integrating precision Bezier pens and intuitive shape builders with native machine learning tools like auto-trace and background removal, Linearity Curve eliminates the standard performance bottlenecks of design work, making digital creation highly responsive whether working in a multi-device studio setup or entirely on the move.

What it does

• Provides professional Bezier Pen and precise Node tools for infinite vector scalability
• Combines and subtracts vector layers instantly with a native touch-friendly Shape Builder
• Traces raster images or physical sketches into clean, fully editable SVG files using AI Auto-Trace
• Removes backgrounds and isolates focal elements automatically with single-tap AI assistants
• Syncs ongoing document designs seamlessly across macOS desktop, iPad, and iPhone ecosystems

Who it's for

• Vector Illustrators
• Brand and Logo Designers
• Digital Art Students
• Marketing Graphic Creators
• Mobile-First Digital Artists

Why it works

• Apple Native Optimization: Engineered explicitly for Apple Silicon, maximizing canvas rendering and frame stability during complex layer operations
• Frictionless Hybrid Input: Provides a fluid experience that balances professional Mac desktop shortcuts with iPad Apple Pencil touch gestures
• Built-In Resource Ecosystem: Features immediate, native access to over 1 million royalty-free assets and customizable template layout structures
• AI-Assisted Efficiency: Dramatically shortens production cycles by handling tedious tasks like vector tracing or texture adjustments automatically
• Cohesive Motion Synergy: Bridges directly with Linearity Move, allowing static vector elements to transition to animated assets instantly

Founder story

Linearity Curve was originally conceived under the name Vectornator by Linearity GmbH to fill a massive gap in the design market: the lack of a fully featured, performance-driven vector design suite built from scratch for touch-first iPad devices. Wanting to break the monopoly of heavy desktop design software, the team developed a lightning-fast vector engine capable of treating the tablet as a primary professional workstation rather than an afterthought.

Alternatives

• Adobe Illustrator
• Affinity Designer
• CorelDRAW
• Amadine
• Inkscape

Comparison overview

• While Adobe Illustrator remains the heavy legacy desktop standard, Linearity Curve delivers a faster, mobile-first experience optimized specifically for Apple devices.
• Unlike Affinity Designer's flat one-time pricing model, Linearity Curve provides a freemium subscription model with extensive cloud assets.
• In contrast to Inkscape's open-source desktop interface, Linearity Curve leans into high-performance proprietary AI tools and sleek UI layouts.
• Where tools like Figma prioritize web layouts and interface components, Linearity Curve targets fine vector illustration, brand styling, and asset scaling.
