Mispher is an open-source, on-device voice-to-text and AI agent utility built natively for Apple Silicon Macs. Operating completely offline via Apple's MLX framework, it converts speech into clean text, executes inline rewrites, auto-translates speech across languages, and runs an agentic planner that interacts with local files, Apple Notes, and MCP servers. It features radial dial gestures, customizable shortcuts, and local privacy without cloud telemetry.
• Transcribes spoken voice into clean text using on-device models like Parakeet and Nemotron. • Rewrites highlighted text in place across any macOS application via hold-and-speak voice instructions. • Runs an on-device DeepAgent planner that executes filesystem actions, updates Apple Notes, and connects to Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. • Translates spoken words automatically into target languages and inserts the output directly into focused text fields.
Processes all audio and AI inference locally on Apple Silicon using Apple's MLX framework with zero cloud dependencies. Operates completely free and open-source under the MIT license with no account registration or telemetry. Integrates directly into system-wide macOS workflows via a gesture radial dial and custom hotkeys. Supports Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers with explicit, user-controlled approval policies for local action execution.

Mispher was created in 2026 by German software developer Daniel Saad (known as dsaad68). Frustrated by traditional dictation tools that only output raw text and send audio to cloud servers, Saad built Mispher as an open-source, on-device solution powered by Apple Silicon's MLX framework. He designed it to handle dictation cleanup, in-place rewrites, and tool execution without sacrificing privacy.
