Openpath is a cloud-based physical security platform providing mobile access control, digital credentialing, and smart building management. Founder story

Openpath was founded in 2016 in Culver City, California, by Alex Kazerani, James Segil, Samy Kamkar, and Phil Goldsmith. Having experienced friction with legacy keycard systems in previous ventures, the founders set out to build a modern, mobile-first access control system. In July 2021, Motorola Solutions acquired Openpath for $297 million to expand its physical security portfolio.
