Pane

Overview

Pane is the first agentic-native spreadsheet platform where artificial intelligence operates directly inside the grid with human-level precision. Rather than just generating text outputs or standalone answers, the agent actively edits cells, writes standard formulas, cleans messy datasets, and builds charts step by step. Because every single action runs through native spreadsheet operations, the workflows remain transparent, fully auditable, and editable by the operator. It bridges raw data chaos with predictable execution loops.

What it does

• Offers a multi-pane workspace to improve digital multitasking.
• Manages multiple web applications side-by-side in one window.
• Reduces constant tab switching to maintain deep focus.
• Saves customized workspace layouts for different daily workflows.

Who it's for

• Data Analysis Teams
• Operations and Finance Managers
• Independent SaaS Founders
• Growth and Marketing Operators

Why it works

• Allows AI to write real editable formulas instead of hidden black box calculations
• Extracts complex structured tables seamlessly from uploaded CSV, XLSX, or PDF files
• Enables instantaneous state restorations back to prior historical checkpoints with ease
• Maintains full persistent auto saving features so sheet sessions remain across devices
• Triggers predictable standard spreadsheet error flags if cell dependencies present circular logic

Founder story

Founded in 2024 by independent developer Rohan Bajpai, Pane was born out of a desire to upgrade the timeless yet painfully manual mechanics of spreadsheets. Recognizing that modern business teams spent hours handling tedious formatting, formula debugging, and file parsing tasks, Rohan engineered a conversational agent capable of modifying grid systems directly. The software preserves the universal familiarity of spreadsheets while removing execution friction.

Comparison overview

• Unlike basic spreadsheet assistants that output text summaries or static sidebar suggestions, Pane manipulates formulas inside the cells.
• It provides full code visibility across every auto-generated graph or calculation sequence, preventing the black box issues of conventional AI analytics software.
• Additionally, its built-in operation recovery allows users to roll back automated cell batches safely without breaking interconnected sheets.
