Shepherd CMMS

Overview

Shepherd CMMS is an enterprise asset management (EAM) and field service operating system built entirely as a native NetSuite SuiteApp. The platform integrates preventive maintenance schedules, real-time work order delegation, mobile inventory tracking, and safety compliance checks inside a single database. By leveraging native NetSuite financial schemas, it automatically routes time entries and material consumption from the field into immediate, accurate billing cycles. It primarily empowers multi-site utility operations, mining complexes, oil and gas networks, and heavy machinery companies to cut asset downtime and eliminate data silos.

What it does

• Automated Preventive Maintenance
• Work Order Management
• Field Mobile Inventory Tracking
• Drag and Drop Scheduling Board
• Occupational Health and Safety (HSE) Compliance

Who it's for

• Maintenance Managers
• Field Service Technicians
• Oil and Gas Operations Teams
• NetSuite Enterprise Resource Planners

Why it works

• Operates 100% native inside NetSuite to eliminate fragile third-party database APIs and data lag
• Maps vans, trucks, and depots as decentralized warehouse nodes for precise field demand planning
• Dispatches service crews accurately by analyzing live location, scheduling horizons, and skill certifications
• Links actual field labor and parts consumption directly to the ERP general ledger for true profitability analyses
• Maintains full operational capabilities offline via high-performance iOS and Android native apps

Founder story

Shepherd CMMS was founded in 2013 by industrial service veteran Don Finnegan and cloud developer Richard Vann in Tallinn, Estonia. Having operated field servicing organizations globally, Finnegan grew frustrated with fragmented data pipelines where isolated field software failed to properly update central back-office ledger configurations. To bridge this gap, they engineered a computerized maintenance management system built from the ground up natively inside the NetSuite framework.

Comparison overview

• Unlike external cloud applications that require complex custom synchronization code, Shepherd unifies operational records natively inside NetSuite.
• While standard tools treat field repairs as isolated actions, Shepherd links material costs automatically to active ledger accounting schemas.
• Compared to general project setups, it maps trucks and service depots as physical inventory nodes to drive direct automated procurement.
