Sunrise

Overview

Sunrise (also known as Sunrise AI) is an AI-powered credit scoring and financial risk assessment platform designed to modernize underwriting for lenders and property managers. By combining machine learning algorithms with user-permissioned open banking data, cash-flow analytics, and macroeconomic signals, Sunrise provides a holistic, bias-free alternative to traditional credit scoring models. Its flaghip product, SunScore, helps property owners and financial institutions detect rental fraud, analyze lease income reliability, and evaluate borrower repayment capacity.

What it does

• Analyzes permissioned open banking transaction feeds and cash flow history to assess real-time liquidity.
• Calculates alternative credit risk scores using machine learning models trained on holistic financial data.
• Detects income statement and rental document fraud during property tenant screening workflows.
• Integrates risk analytics into existing loan underwriting software and property management portals via API.

Who it's for

• Property Management Companies & Landlords
• Fintech Lenders & Underwriting Teams
• Real Estate Investment Platforms
• Financial Services & Banking Institutions

Why it works

• Machine learning models evaluate real-time open banking data instead of relying solely on delayed legacy credit bureau scores.
• Holistic cash-flow evaluation expands credit access to credit-invisible and underbanked applicant populations.
• Automated document and transaction verification prevents application fraud and reduces default risks for property owners.
• API-first delivery enables seamless integration directly into enterprise origination systems and tenant screening portals.

Founder story

Sunrise AI was founded in 2023 in New York City by Deepak Shrivastava and Xi Palazzolo in incubation with Andrew Ng's AI Fund. Recognizing that conventional credit scoring bureaus rely on rigid, outdated metrics that exclude qualified applicants and miss modern financial signals, the founders built Sunrise. The platform uses advanced machine learning and open banking context to deliver accurate, inclusive, and unbiased credit assessments.
